My Mom

I have decided to make this post about my mom, kind of a post-Mother's Day tribute. My mom is a fabulous person! She is smart and funny and we are truly friends now that I am an adult. We like to go get pedicures together since we both have a love of pretty toes.
She has always been a mom that my friends felt comfortable talking with, especially when we were teenagers, because she is so in touch with the young person inside. I think some days that she still sees herself as a teenager, dating my dad and having fun. She is still my favorite person to go to Disney World with because she can release her inner child and have just as much fun as I have! We used to love to go to the Magic Kingdom and ride Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, our favorite, although it is no longer there and we never really liked the story The Wind in the Willows. She is one of the funnest people I know!

She and my dad have been married and dating for over 30 years. I feel so lucky to have grown up with such a strong relationship as my example of what a marriage should be. They still make each other laugh and still hold hands when no one is looking. I always dreamed as a little girl of falling in love the exact same way they did and I pretty much did. They were high school sweethearts and they are about the same difference apart in age as Taylor and I are. Although, I will say that I think Mom and Dad had a little more stable relationship through high school than we did, we were more friends with benefits. I will say that I will always trust my parents on any advice on marriage.

My mom, although her first love is books, has always liked movies a lot. We used to have movie marathons on the weekends that had themes. We both like horror movies so we would rent all the classics like Halloween, Friday the 13th, IT, and others, and watch them back to back. It is really fun and we always had a blast doing it. She also is always willing to sit with me when I get nostalgic and watch Sleeping Beauty, the Pound Puppies Movie, Care Bears Movie or those Fairy Tale Theater videos that she got me as an 18th birthday present.

Mom is also great because she and I can sit and talk for hours, literally. I know we are girls and girls talk a lot but you ain't seen nothing compared to what Mom and I can do. We are like-minded on some issues, but we also like to sit and talk about the things that we differ in opinion on. She is probably my favorite person to talk to on this planet besides Taylor!

She also has a great love for the Lord. Her faith is strong and she is a big believer in the power of prayer. She has always prayed for me and for different things in my life. My life has been pretty good so far, so I think it is working. I think that even my dad and I don't know how much she prays. She has an unwavering faith in God that I admire and respect. She is not always thrilled with her church or her personal actions but she is always faithful to the Lord.
Okay, well, I think I could go on forever about what makes my mom great. I will end with some photos of her that she will probably be grumpy I showed my readers (of which she is one).

Mom and Dad at my wedding. It is not the best pic and mom does have her eyes closed, but I couldn't resist.

This photo shows me and my parents and illustrates our creepy family resemblance. I have always maintained that I am the exact genetic equal of my parents. I wish I had a more convincing picture to prove this, but it is so true.
Mom and I at the wedding.

Mom and I, with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law the day before the wedding. We went to lunch and then all got pedicures.
Finally, I knew Mom would love this one. She is holding Taylor's snow boot that they got him for our move to Minnesota. Yes, his foot really is that big!
